It’s hard to imagine a holiday tradition associated with Eaton Senior Communities goes back 49 years – to 1970 – a full 10 years before the building on Eaton St. even existed. But “Candles and Carols”, a wonderful program of the music and spoken words of the season, began that year in the Sanctuary of Eaton’s founding church, West Alameda Community Baptist Church.
The tradition continues again this year, the 49th consecutive even, on Sunday, December 15th at 6:00 p.m. in the Centrum of the Eaton Senior Communities Residences building at 333 S. Eaton St. Former church music director Neal Wegener has assembled an amazing lineup of professional area musicians to provide the music and to lead those gathered in favorite Christmas hymns. Pastor Jim Ward, Eaton’s Director of Mission and Ministry and Pastor of West Alameda Community Baptist Church has designed the program to help us not only “get into” the spirit of Christmas, but remember its true meaning.
All in the community are invited to join us for this wonderful evening – a reception will follow the program at 7:00. Volunteers will be manning the doors to welcome visitors into the community for an amazing tradition.
